Ethnic groups
There are nine ethnic groups living in the country (Tigrinya, Tigray, Bilen, Afar, Saho, Kunama, Nara, Hidareb and Rashaida). Half a million Eritrean refugees live in Sudan.

Almost half of all Eritreans are Coptic Christians and most of the rest are Muslims. There are also Catholic and Protestant minorities.
