MAG works to reduce the threat posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance in the country – and to destroy stockpiles of small arms and light weapons, and ammunition, as part of a conventional weapons management and disposal (CWMD) programme.
Summary of October's activities:
- 60,000m2 of land searched and cleared; 57 hazardous items removed and destroyed.
- 34,245 items of ammunition and 1,150 weapons destroyed by the CWMD teams.
- 34 Dangerous Areas identified.
- 121 Mine Risk Education sessions conducted, targeting 4,076 beneficiaries.
