"Today, 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip — almost half of them children — are the victims of incessant shooting and bombing," said Franck Joncret, MSF's head of mission. "How can anyone believe that such a steamroller attack would spare civilians, who are prevented from fleeing, and are crowded in a densely-populated enclave?"
Thirty-three people suspected of suffering from Ebola, including nine people who have died, have been reported since November 27. An MSF team of nine Ebola specialists is currently working in the region. Logisticians are building an isolation ward and putting in place all protection measures.
There is a clear shift from the bigger cities to district towns and smaller towns with many new areas affected, many in rural areas. This makes the management of cases more challenging as resources need to be dispersed and logistics are more difficult.
MSF calls on combatants to respect medical facilities in Guri El (Somalia)
This morning, fighting broke out around the town of Guri El, in the Galagaduud region of Somalia. "With so few medical facilities available in Somalia, it is crucial that any person, regardless of their political or other affiliation, is able to freely access medical structures that are still functioning.
