Area
2,381,740 sq km (1 km = 0.62 miles), with fertile lands in the north along Algeria's Mediterranean coastline, while the rest of the country is cloaked by the sands of the Sahara. It is bordered by Morocco in the west, Mali and Niger in the south and Libya in the east.

Language
Arabic and Tamazight (Berber) are the official languages; many speak French, but gradually, Arabic has been replacing it in education and public administration.
