109,820 sq km (1 km = 0.62 miles) Cuba is the largest island in the West Indies and lies 217 km south of mainland Florida. Its largest offshore island is the Isle of Youth, formerly the Isle of Pines. Cuba is surrounded by an archipelago of 1,600 coral keys and islets, most of which are uninhabited.

Spanish (official) and African languages used in Lucumi and Santeria (voodoo) rituals.
