One year on: Georgia-Russia war
06 Aug 2009
Source: AlertNet
Late on Aug. 7, 2008 the Georgian army attacked rebel areas in its South Ossetia region bordering Russia. Russia stepped in to help the rebels and defeated Georgia's forces in a five day war.

The peace is fragile and tens of thousands who fled still live in temporary accommodation. Reuters AlertNet looks back at the war and what it means for the future.
