
TROPICAL STORM RISK

Hurricane Stan struck Mexico as a tropical storm at about 21:00 GMT on 4 October. Data supplied by the US National Hurricane Center suggest that the point of landfall was near 17.8 N, 95.6 W. Stan brought 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region of around 83 km/hr (51 mph). Wind gusts in the area may have been considerably higher.
