Spring brings uncertainty for Afghan refugees in West
With the arrival of spring at the end of March, many people who fled Afghanistan could be forced to return from richer countries whose governments now classify it as safe. However, the transitional government and refugee support organisations say some regions are still insecure and resources are overstretched. Ruth Gidley reports on what's in store for them.

Asylum principles under threat since Sept 11
Since September 11, 2001, there has been an unprecedented consensus that refugees are more of a threat than an asset, writes Matthew J. Gibney of the Refugee Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. He argues that these events remind us why the institution of asylum is important and should not be bartered for a marginal increase in security.
