The sexual violence in conflict map is a visual representation of Maplecroft's sexual violence in conflict index. This index draws heavily on data from Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict, a report by the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).[1] The report is not based on field research, but draws together a number of primary sources to produce profiles on conflict-related sexual violence in 51 countries around the world. It is the most up-to-date, consistent and reliable data source available. Although it is not global in its coverage, this is a reflection of reporting constraints and available primary data, rather than bias.
