  • A combination of rain, high tide and northern floodwaters flowing down the Chao Phraya River saw homes and roads flooded to a depth of up to half a metre (20 inches) in Bangkok on Monday.

The floods, caused by a combination of monsoon rains and poor drainage, displaced several thousand people from their homes and caused one death.

City officials said on Wednesday only people living along the riverbank still faced the threat of floods.

Monsoon rains have lashed most of Thailand since early August and flooding has claimed 151 lives.
