This image acquired on October 23 shows flooding along the Uruguay River.

As a result of heavy rains, the river has flooded along sections in Uruguay, Argentina and Southern Brazil, most notably in the departments of Salto and Paysandu.

About 2,000 people have been evacuated because of flooding along the Uruguay River, close to the border with Argentina.

The National Meteorological Department said that rains were likely to continue until Monday.

Spring floods in Argenina this month have left at least one person dead, forced nearly 3,000 to evacuate their homes and waterlogged fields of crops.

Argentina's worst weather was concentrated in the northern province of Entre Rios.

The satellite image shows water as dark blue/black colours which can be seen along the length of the Uruguay River.
