Meredith AlexanderSpokesperson: Meredith Alexander, Head of G8 Policy

"The G8’s announcement of $20 billion over three years to tackle the ‘hunger emergency’ amounts to scraps at the table for the world’s poor. 25,000 people die from hunger-related causes every day. It would be so easy for the G8 to transform their lives by giving them the means to feed themselves and their families.

"It is time for world leaders to stop cooking the books; they must put real money into food and agriculture. Aid for food security from the G8 must reach $23 billion per year by 2012."
