Direct Relief International has once again been recognized as a "Four Star Charity" by leading nonprofit evaluator Charity Navigator, the organization's highest rating.

"We are pleased to be identified by Charity Navigator as a top-rated organization among thousands of nonprofits," said Thomas Tighe, Direct Relief president and CEO. "The evaluation criteria highlight the financial and operational strengths that are means to helping more people."

Direct Relief has earned this distinction for three consecutive years from Charity Navigator, which was established in 2001.

"Only 7.8% of the charities we've rated have received at least three consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Direct Relief International outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible," said Charity Navigator President Trent Stamp in the letter announcing the rating.

Charity Navigator's ratings system is based on an evaluation of an organization's financial health, efficiency, and capacity in comparison with the performances of similar charities. According to Charity Navigator, a four-star rating indicates a charity's organizational efficiency and organizational capacity "exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause."
