Bogotá (ICRC) – On Thursday 5 February, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) released Sigifredo López, a
former lawmaker of the Valle del Cauca assembly.
He was handed over to Colombian senator Piedad Córdoba and delegates of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in a
rural area of Cauca.
The ICRC is delighted that Sigifredo López, Alan Jara and four members of the police and armed forces have been able to return home and offers its good offices to
help reunite other Colombians who remain in the hands of armed groups with their families.
The ICRC thanks the governments of Brazil and Colombia, the police and armed forces, Colombians
for Peace and the FARC for their cooperation in the humanitarian operations that led to the release of these six Colombians.
The ICRC will continue working to protect and assist all victims
of the armed conflict.
