Bogotá (ICRC) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirms that Brazil is ready to provide the organization with logistics support to facilitate the release of Sigifredo López, Alan Jara and four members of the Colombian police currently being held by the FARC.

The ICRC is talking to a number of countries in the region about the logistics capacity required to conduct the operation and about their availability.

Discussions are focusing on the logistical complexity of the humanitarian operation.

The reasons for considering Brazil include the proximity of the country and the logistics facilities it can offer.

The ICRC reiterates the importance of discretion and prudence to the successful carrying out of this operation.
