SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES AND OUTPUTS:
The programme continued to reduce the threat of unexploded ordnance (UXO) to vulnerable
communities in Vietnam by implementing humanitarian mine action in Quang Binh and Quang
Tri Provinces.
- Nine Mine Action Teams (MATs), supported by two Community Liaison (CL) Teams.
- Teams visited 1,765 houses and 14 scrapyards; searching 1,809 square metres of land; performing 334 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) tasks; and removing 2,124 items of UXO and two
mines, including 1,349 items removed from scrap yards.
- During July the teams also cleared 34,590 square metres of land, removing and destroying 16
items of UXO.
- Community Liaison teams conducted 12 community/partner meetings; visiting 24
villages, conducting 1,865 house to house surveys; documenting 284 mine/UXO reports; generating three post-clearance impact reports.
