Floods in Bijapur, Karnataka, India
Habitat for Humanity India
From the 30th of September, 2009, the States of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have been reeling under severe flooding caused by incessant rains. In Karnataka, 14 districts have been declared as flood affected and in Andhra Pradesh around 17 districts. The floods have brought in its wake large scale destruction of life and property with official figures putting the loss of homes at around 150,000 in these States, with almost 800,000 persons, including women and children, being directly affected.

Habitat for Humanity in India has been at the forefront in providing succour to thousands of Indian citizens, post the various disasters in the country, in the past. The organisation channelizes its resources, post disasters, in repairs, rehabilitation and reconstruction of houses in the affected areas. With its experience of building over 29,000 houses across the country including more than 11,000 Tsunami response houses, Habitat is well equipped to take on this fresh challenge.

Please donate generously to help support the works of Habitat for Humanity India, in providing shelter to those affected by this natural calamity, in the States of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
