Saturday 24, Dorcas - through its partner organizations - will distribute some 10,000 Morvite-packages in Johannesburg to victims of the recent eruption of xenophobia which has left more than 40 people dead and tens of thousands displaced.

In addition, Dorcas has released 130+ food boxes with flour, oil, cereals, sugar and canned food to respond to the immediate needs of Zimbabweans seeking refuge from attacks. A container with blankets, soap, cooking utensils and other basic necessities will arrive in the city within a week.

All distribution is done through local partners in Johannesburg.

Xenophobic violence has driven more than 25,000 African migrants from their homes in South Africa as mobs accuse foreigners of taking jobs and fuelling crimes. The violence has now spread to Cape Town.

Dorcas Aid International is a Christian relief and development organisation, committed to fulfil the command Jesus Christ gave to His followers to take care of the poor and oppressed (Matt. 25:31-46), irrespective of their race, religion, gender or political conviction.
