It was during the deployment of the LWF-ACT local animators that a group of very vulnerable displaced were identified, and registered as a group with special needs. One of these vulnerable persons is Mrs Fatime Ahamat from Moudeyina village. She is widow, eighty years old and blind. Mrs Fatime belongs to the Dajo ethnic group and was forced to leave her village on the 31st of March 2007.

During the interview with our local animators she declared that she had 4 children, who all died at the village. She proudly explains that she was married to her husband Gammar Haroun at the age of 15 years old and that she used to work harder than her husband, growing crops and traveling like anyone else.

However, since she became blind and following the conflicts with Arabs in her village, she was forced to come to this camp Habile 1.

"There is nothing I can do here for myself; I am totally depending on others like my grandchildren who do their best looking after me".

"But I fail to get enough food for myself, and I don't have clothing, shoes, and a plastic sheet for my shelter and clothes for my grandchildren".

This particular group of vulnerable internally displaced will benefit from the extra assistance that LWF-ACT will secure for them thanks to the funding received from our partners within the ACT network. The ACT appeal for Internally Displaced in the East of Chad (AFCH-71) is at present 51% assured and we are appealing to our network to assist in raising funds for this emergency.
