International children's organisation, Plan, has announced that its chief executive officer (CEO), Tom Miller, has resigned, effective the end of the 2008.
Miller, 59, will remain as CEO and continue to run the international children's organisation over the coming months to ensure a smooth succession and begin implementing the organisation's business plan from its recent strategic review.
Speaking from the organisation's UK headquarters, Miller said "Getting up each day knowing that the work you do is having a real impact and making a real difference to millions of children worldwide is something I have cherished over the past three and a half years. Plan is an outstanding organisation with committed and dedicated staff at its core. I will truly miss being a part of something really wonderful."
Paul Arlman, Plan's International Board chairman, thanked Miller for his contributions to the international children's organisation, which included a much-needed transformation and comprehensive strategic review, the opening of four new programme country offices and two new national offices, and an expansion of Plan's capabilities in humanitarian relief, child protection, and advocacy.
Tom Miller joined Plan in January 2005 after a distinguished 29 years in the US State Department. Formerly US Ambassador to Greece and Bosnia, he is married and has two children.
