FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR YOUNG GLOBAL LEADERS FOR PEACE May 14-15, 2009 in Castellón (C.Valenciana) Spain.

INTRODUCTION Terre des Hommes Spain and the Generalitat Valenciana organise the First International Conference for Young Global Leaders for Peace, which will take place May 14th and 15th, 2009 in Castellón, Spain.

The aim of the conference is to promote, inform and educate youth on the present situation of constant child rights violations everywhere in this world, and on possible ways to change this situation.

Twelve young people with deep-rooted positive values, who already act as global leaders, will pass on their vital experience to the 200 participants, and will share how they themselves decided to revert this situation of injustice. They will demonstrate how they succeed in their daily work to build a society which has more respect for the rights of children and youth as protected through the UN-Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The main topics of the Conference will be: - Stop the Use of Child Soldiers - Child Prostitution - Child Organ Trafficking - Child Labour Exploitation

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Scientific Committee and the Organisation Committee of the First International Conference for Young Global Leaders for Peace welcome all interested young people who fulfill the requirements, to submit proposal papers for their presentation to be elected as one of the twelve young leaders of the Conference.

The requirements to submit a paper are: - Being between 18 and 25 years old - Being a charismatic leader who was able to turn a situation of human rights violation that they experienced themselves into an opportunity, to show the injustice to the world and to prevent that other children and young people may suffer the same.

Proposal papers can be submitted in two ways:

- Papers of personal experiences, - Papers linked to the main topics of the Conference.

The submission period starts January 1, 2009 and ends January 30, 2009.

The Scientific Committee of the Conference will decide about the acception of the papers, and will inform the applicants on their decision by February 6, 2009.

The Scientific Committee may choose accepted papers and their summaries for the final publication of the Conference.
