All 320 children living with special needs from Mercy house orphanage can now be educated together through improvements to the classroom, equipment and educational materials made possible by generous private donations recently acquired by World Vision Uzbekistan

The classroom desks have been adjusted for children using wheelchairs by a local manufacturer, desks for smaller children were also ordered and assembled for the classroom. Bedridden children can now play games on the carpet in the classroom. Educational games promoting the development and cognitive functions of the children through picture cards are also now available and there are 4 bookshelves for education materials, games and toys locally manufactured and delivered to the Mercy House.

Mercy House staff will be trained on how to use all education materials and continue
working with children on their development.

'The donation is opening new avenues for children with disabilities to develop their full potential. Care givers in the Mercy House now have stimulating tools at hand to work with children and improve their, physical, intellectual and analytical abilities', said Hans Bederski, National Director of World Vision Uzbekistan.

'Furthermore, this brings dignity back into the lives of children and a greater chance for reintergration with their families and communities', he added.

The US$3000 USD were donated by the private donors through World Vision Japan.
