At the height of hurricane season Haiti
has been hit by four massive storms in
as many weeks. Hurricanes Gustav and Ike
and tropical storms Fay and Hanna have
affected more than 650,000 people and
left more than 600 dead. Now the massive
task ahead of rebuilding is becoming
clearer every day as the floodwaters
slowly subside.

just starting to recede and the body
count beginning when Hurricane Ike swept
past. Ike destroyed the last bridge into
the city which is now only accessible by

escape and were stranded without food or
drink for several days. Five of
Christian Aid's partners in Haiti are
distributing food baskets, blankets and

Like Haiti itself, 26-year-old Siena
Joseph has been repeatedly battered by
storms. In 2004, her husband died in
Tropical storm Jeanne. This year her son
Claudiae, 11, and daughter Claudina, 10,
were killed by tropical storm Hanna.
Here she is with her son Jeff and baby
Lovemichel Josef who is seven months old
and suffering with diarrhoea.
