PHOTOS: Red Cross conducts health campaign in Togo

Togo Red Cross volunteer Sandra Sewavi goes door-to-door to inform residents of the upcoming vaccination campaign during which time insecticide treated bed nets (ITN) will also be distributed. Sandra explains the purpose and proper use of ITNs to a woman from her neighborhood in Katanga, a suburb of Lome.
Red Cross volunteer holds a child with a flag of Togo during the launch of a week long integrated health campaign targetting 900,000 children under five to be vaccinated against measles and polio and to fight malaria will given one insecticide treated bed net each. In addition 600,000 children between ages 2 and five will be given deworming medicine medendazole.
Six-year-old Marco Togbe lies in a bed conforted by his grandmother at the l`Hopital de Be in Lome. Stricken with cerebral malaria, Marco has only recently woken from a coma. Once a normal child, he now suffers from severe brain damage.
