FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, Aug 31

Aug 31 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 0830 GMT on Sunday.

MOSUL - Gunmen killed an off-duty police officer and wounded his brother in a drive-by shooting on Saturday in eastern Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - Police found the body of a bodyguard of one of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani's advisers with gunshot wounds just after he was kidnapped on Saturday in southern Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

DIYALA PROVINCE - A member of a U.S.-backed neighbourhood patrol and three of his relatives were killed when militants opened fire on Friday in Diyala Province, northern Baghdad, One Iraqi soldier was also wounded, the U.S. military said.

KUT - Gunmen in Iraqi Army uniforms wounded police Lieutenant-Colonel Yas Khudaier and killed his wife when they stormed their house in the early morning in western Kut, 150 km (95 miles) southeast of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - One body was found with gunshot wounds on Saturday in eastern Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
