G8 agreement on 2 degree target real progress-Merkel

L'AQUILA, Italy, July 8 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday agreement among the Group of Eight industrial powers that a rise in global temperatures should not exceed 2 degrees Celsius was clear progress.

Merkel also said in L'Aquila, Italy, that the G8 agreed that the global crisis was far from over, but that "with luck" the worst of economic slump may now be past.
