FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, April 7

April 7 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq as of 0915 GMT on Saturday:

RAMADI - The death toll from a chlorine truck bomb attack on a police checkpoint in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi on Friday rose to 12 civilians, the U.S. military said. The blast wounded 43, including eight women and five children.

BAGHDAD - An explosively-formed projectile (EFP) killed one U.S. soldier and wounded four when it blew up next to a U.S. patrol in eastern Baghdad on Friday, the U.S. military said.

DIWANIYA - The U.S. military said it killed three gunmen in clashes in Diwaniya on Friday. Six other gunmen were wounded. Two Iraqi soldiers and one U.S. soldier were also wounded.

HIMREEN - Gunmen kidnapped 10 people who were travelling in a minivan near Himreen, 100 km (60 miles) south of Kirkuk, police said. The identity of the victims and the motive for the kidnapping were not immediately clear.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of 11 people were found dumped across Baghdad in the past 24 hours, police said.

SUWAYRA - Insurgents killed an Iraqi soldier and wounded six others when they attacked an Iraqi army base on Friday evening near Suwayra, just south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen killed Muhannad Ibrahim, a public works engineer, in front of his home on Friday in southern Baghdad's Saidiya district, police said.

NUMANIYA - Police retrieved two bodies from a small river near the town of Numaniya, 120 km (72 miles) south of Baghdad, on Friday, police said. The men were dressed in civilian clothing and had gunshot wounds to their bodies.

BAGHDAD - Two mortar rounds wounded four civilians when they hit the Shi'ite district of Abu Dshir on Friday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A mortar round wounded four people when it landed near an interior ministry compound in western Baghdad on Friday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded two civilians when it exploded in the mainly Shi'ite Bayaa district of southern Baghdad, police said.
