BANGKOK, March 15 (Reuters) - A German studying at a Thai university was beaten to death, apparently with a 5-kg (11 lb) dumbell, at his Bangkok apartment where his naked body was found in a pool of blood, police said on Thursday.

Police said they suspected Ronny Ulblich, a 25-year-old student at Ramkhamhaeng University in the eastern suburb of Bangkok, might have been killed by one of the men he was dating.

"He was murdered with a hard strong object, very likely a 5-kg dumbell found beside his body," Police Colonel Chainarong Limpiteep told Reuters. "We want to know who else slept at his apartment last night."

His computer laptop and a video game machine were stolen, he said.
