July 16 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1700 GMT on Monday:

* Indicates a new or updated item.

KIRKUK - At least 85 people were killed and 180 wounded by a truck bomb in a crowded market in Kirkuk that was part of a multiple attack in the northern Iraqi city, police said.

* BASRA - British troops clashed with Shi'ite militia in the southern oil city of Basra but there were no immediate reports of casualties, the military said.

BAGHDAD - A guard was hit and killed by an Iraqi Army humvee at the Baghdad home of Sunni politician Adnan al-Dulaimi, his office said, adding shots were also fired. On Sunday a roadside bomb exploded near Dulaimi's car, but no one was hurt.

BAGHDAD - Four policemen and a civilian killed and 20 other people wounded by a suicide car bomb near a police checkpoint in al-Harthiya in western Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Two young sisters killed by a bomb planted under their father's car in the Shi'ite Zayouna district of east Baghdad, police said. They had just returned from shopping.

BAGHDAD - A street cleaner was killed by a sniper and three other people wounded in the Bab al-Muadham district of north central Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - One police officer was killed and four other officers wounded by a car bomb in southern Kirkuk, police said.

BAGHDAD - Around 8,000 U.S. forces launch a fresh operation targeting Islamist al Qaeda militants in farmland south of Baghdad, the military said.

YUSUFIYA - Three bodes found in Yusufiya, 15 km (9 miles) south of Baghdad, police said. They were shot in the head.

BAGHDAD - At least two people were wounded by two mortar rounds that hit a residential area in Baghdad's central district of Karrada, police said.

BAGHDAD - One person killed and three wounded by a car bomb in the Karrada district, police said.

BAGHDAD - Five Iraqi soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in north east Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Two people killed and six wounded by two mortar rounds that struck a residential Shi'ite neighbourhood in southern Baghdad called Abudsheer.

BAGHDAD - One U.S soldier was killed by a bomb in the northern city of Mosul on Sunday, the military said on Monday.

FALLUJA - Two Iraqi policeman shot dead in an attack in the western city of Falluja. One other policeman was wounded and a gunman killed in the shooting, police said.

SAMARRA - Five bodies shot in the head found in Samarra, 100 km north of Baghdad, police said.
