COLOMBO, Jan 6 (Reuters) - A blast tore through a passenger bus near a popular beach resort in south Sri Lanka on Saturday, police said, a day after suspected Tamil Tiger rebels killed 6 civilians and wounded dozens in a similar attack.

"There was an explosion on a bus near the town of Hikkaduwa," a police spokeswoman said, referring to the coastal resort town 45 miles (70 km) south of Colombo.

There was no immediate word on casualties in Saturday's attack.
