Sept 11 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Sri Lanka at 1230 GMT on Thursday:

JAFFNA PENINSULA - Sri Lankan troops killed at least four Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels, including a local commander, in the Jaffna peninsula 400 km (250 miles) north of Colombo, military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said. He said a large number of insurgents were wounded but gave no details. One soldier was wounded in the area on Wednesday.

ANDANKULLAM - Four Tamil Tiger rebels were killed and 10 were wounded in four separate clashes in Andankullam, a Tiger stronghold located about 15 km (10 miles) south of the northeastern port of Mullaittivua on Wednesday, the military said. Three soldiers were also wounded.

AKKARAYANKULAM - Five Tamil Tiger rebels were killed and three wounded during an army tank assault on an LTTE defensive line at Akkarayankulam in Kilinochchi district, 300 km (185 miles) north of Colombo, the military said. Seven soldiers were wounded.

YODIYANKATTU - One Tamil Tiger rebel was killed during an army attack in the Yodiyankattu area in Batticaloa district, about 330 km (205 miles) east of Colombo, on Wednesday, the military said.

ANURADHAPURA - An unmanned Sri Lanka Air Force surveillance drone was damaged when it made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from an air force base in Anuradhapura, 205 km (130 miles) north of Colombo, air force spokesman wing commander Janaka Nanayakkara said.

VAVUNIYA DISTRICT - Sri Lankan troops killed five Tamil Tiger rebels in two separate confrontations in Vedamkulam and Pallaimodai, both about 255 km (160 miles) north of Colombo, on Wednesday, the military said. (Compiled by Ranga Sirilal; Editing by Paul Tait)
