TEHRAN, June 2 (Reuters) - About 20-30 people have been arrested in connection with unrest in Iran's southeastern city of Zahedan in which six people were killed, the judiciary said on Tuesday.

The street disturbances broke out on Sunday, three days after a bombing of a Shi'ite mosque killed 25 people in Zahedan, which is home to many of Iran's minority Sunnis, Iranian television reported this week.

The violence took place less than two weeks before the predominantly Shi'ite Muslim country holds a presidential election, in which the conservative incumbent, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, faces a challenge from moderates.

"In the unrest that took place in the city of Zahedan six people were killed and 20-30 people were arrested," judiciary spokesman Alireza Jamshidi told a news conference, in the first official comment on the issue. (Reporting by Hossein Jaseb; writing by Fredrik Dahl; editing by Alison Williams)
