SRINAGAR, India, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Twenty-four people, including five policemen, were wounded on Friday when suspected separatist militants threw a grenade in a crowded marketplace in Indian Kashmir, police said. No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack which took place in Banihal town, which lies 110 km (70 miles) south of Srinagar, Kashmir's summer capital. Rebel violence has increased in the Himalayan region in recent months because the onset of summer has made it easier for militants to trek into Indian Kashmir from the Pakistani side, officials say. Officials say more than 42,000 people have been killed in Kashmir since a revolt against Indian rule erupted in 1989. But human rights groups put the toll at about 60,000.
