Bus plunges down gorge in India, 19 killed

LUCKNOW, India, September 2 (Reuters) - Nineteen people were killed and 23 injured on Sunday when a packed bus veered off a mountainous road and hurtled down a gorge in the Indian Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, an official said.

A senior official said the accident in the Tehri Garhwal district occured after the bus driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp bend along a winding mountain road.
