NEW DELHI, Dec 2 (Reuters) - A small truck carrying wedding guests veered off a mountain road in north India on Sunday, killing at least 16 people, eight of them women, police said.

The stricken vehicle fell into the Sutlej River, about 80 km (50 miles) northeast of the Himalayan tourist hotspot, Shimla.

The bride and groom were not on the truck that hurtled into the river after the driver lost control negotiating the narrow mountain road. (Reporting by Onkar Pandey; Editing by Krittivas Mukherjee and Jerry Norton)
