KATHMANDU, Sept 1 (Reuters) - At least 13 people have died in southeastern Nepal after drinking contaminated home-brewed liquor, police and local media said on Saturday.

State-run Radio Nepal said others were being treated in hospitals near the temple town of Janakpur, 100 km (60 miles) southeast of Kathmandu.

"We have detained four people on a charge of brewing the alcohol illegally," said Birendra Yadav, a police officer in Janakpur.
