Four dead after fire in Essar Oil pipeline in India

(Adds details, company quotes) AHMEDABAD, Feb 1 (Reuters) - A fire in an oil pipeline at Essar Oil's <ESRO.BO> refinery in western India killed four workers and injured 19 others, but refinery operations were not affected, company officials said on Thursday. The fire broke out in a pipeline that links the refinery to a jetty, officials said. "The fire was quickly brought under control. There is absolutely no impact on the refinery," said a spokesman for Essar Oil, which operates the pipeline. Essar Oil managing director A. N. Sinha told Reuters the pipeline would be fixed by Feb. 4, when a new cargo for export was expected to arrive. Refinery operations and dispatches would not be affected by the fire. "We had taken a routine shutdown of the pipeline for some minor modifications and cleaning. In the process, it seems some leakage has happened," Sinha said. The refinery had been running at a rate of 150,000 barrels a day. (Additional reporting by Nidhi Verma in New Delhi)
