HEILIGENDAMM, Germany, June 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Wednesday he had a "strong desire" to work with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on a new global pact to combat climate change.

"I also come with a strong desire to work with you on a post-Kyoto agreement and how we can achieve major objectives," Bush told reporters after a private meeting with Merkel at a summit of Group of Eight world leaders.
