HANOI, July 20 (Reuters) - These are some of the leading stories in the official Vietnamese press on Monday. Reuters has not verified these stories.

FINANCIAL NEWS:

THANH NIEN

-- Vietnam's consumer price index is on a rising trend, and a deficit in the country's balance of payments may mean the dong's depreciation could be more than 5-6 percent this year, Oricombank chief executive Tran Phuong Vinh said.

ECONOMIC AND GENERAL NEWS:

HANOI MOI

-- The customs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City should tighten inspection to limit the import of cars by air to prevent second-hand cars being branded as new vehicles for import to avoid taxes, the General Department of Customs said.

TUOI TRE

-- The Health Ministry warned on Sunday of the spread of the H1N1 flu virus in public areas after 16 students and four teachers were found to be infected at a school in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam has now had 383 cases, but no fatality, the ministry said. (Reporting by Hanoi Newsroom)
