BAGHDAD, Dec 30 (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad on Friday, the U.S. military said on Saturday, bringing the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq since the beginning of the war to at least 2,996.

Earlier, the U.S. military reported the deaths of three U.S. marines from wounds suffered in combat in Iraq's western Anbar province. (Editing by Richard Williams))
