the recent closure of the frontier, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said. "Some WFP-contracted trucks loaded with food were allowed to cross into Somalia from Liboi, but others were
stopped at the border. These people have been trapped near Dhobley," the WFP-Somalia Deputy Country Director Leo van der Velden said. least 2,000 Somali children who attend schools in northeastern Kenya have failed to resume classes a week after school re-opened, due to the closure of the border, officials said. Kenyan officials
confirmed that the children, who attend schools in the districts of Mandera, Ijara, Wajir and Garissa, have not been allowed in the country since fighting broke out in Somalia in December. [Full story

operating there cannot ensure the survival of thousands of internally displaced persons, United Nations humanitarian agencies said. "In the face of growing insecurity and danger to communities and
aid workers, the UN and its humanitarian partners have effectively been holding the line for the survival and protection of millions. That line cannot be held much longer," the team said on Wednesday.
