Aug 27 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1100 GMT on Wednesday:

PAKTIKA - A joint operation by foreign and Afghan forces killed some 30 insurgents in the southeastern province of Paktika on Tuesday, a provincial official said.

HELMAND - Eighteen militants were killed when Taliban insurgents clashed with police in the southern province of Helmand on Tuesday, a police official said. There were no police casualties.

* KUNDUZ - One German soldier was killed and three wounded when a roadside bomb hit their convoy in the northern province of Kunduz, the German Defence Ministry said on its website.

NANGARHAR - Police recovered the body of a kidnapped Japanese aid worker in the eastern province of Nangarhar, the provincial governor said.

KHOST - U.S.-led troops killed an Afghan international cricket player, Rahmat Wali, in a raid on his house in eastern Khost province late on Tuesday and arrested his brother, two officials said.

GHAZNI - One Afghan officer was killed and one soldier was wounded when their vehicle hit a mine in Qara Bagh district of Ghazni province, southwest of Kabul, the Defence Ministry said.

HELMAND - Three civilians were wounded when a suicide bomber unsuccessfully tried to attack a convoy of British soldiers in Helmand province on Tuesday, a local official said.

HELMAND - Afghan soldiers killed five insurgents and wounded eight more in the Nawa district of Helmand on Tuesday, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

HELMAND - Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces killed several militants in Sangin district of Helmand province on Monday, the U.S. military said in a statement. (Compiled by Sayed Salahuddin; Editing by Paul Tait)
