FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, May 31

May 31 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1500 GMT on Saturday:

NANGARHAR - A suicide car bomber killed one foreign soldier and wounded six other people, including three civilians, in the city of Jalalabad in the eastern province of Nangarhar, the provincial governor said.

ZABUL - The governor of Qalat District in Zabul Province was shot dead with his bodyguard at his house by unknown gunmen on Friday night, the provincial police chief told Reuters.

WARDAK - A senior member of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) was kidnapped along with three companions by Taliban fighters in Wardak province, a local government official said. The Taliban confirmed they were holding the men.

PAKTIA - Two soldiers from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force were wounded when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the eastern province of Paktia, the U.S. military said.

HELMAND - One Afghan soldier was killed and two others wounded when they came under fire from insurgents at a military checkpoint on Friday in Sangin District in the southern province of Helmand, the defence ministry said.

FARAH - The Afghan National Army, with air support from international forces, killed and wounded a number of insurgents in two separate districts in the western province of Farah on Friday, during an operation to clear the area of insurgents, the defence ministry said.

HELMAND - Afghan security forces, supported by coalition forces, killed several insurgents with small arms fire and air strikes on Thursday after coming under fire in Nahre Saraj District in the southern province of Helmand, the U.S. military said.
