ISLAMABAD, Oct 3 (Reuters) - A U.S. missile strike in a Pakistani tribal region known as a haven for Taliban and al Qaeda fighters killed up to 21 people, including 16 foreigners, on Friday, Dawn News television channel reported.

Pakistani intelligence officials had earlier told Reuters that at least five people were killed in the missile attack that targeted a tribesman's house in the village of Mohammad Khel, 30 km west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan.

Pakistani military spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas said he had no information on the strike, though the intelligence sources gave specific information, naming the tribesman whose house was hit. (Reporting by Augustine Anthony; Writing by Simon Cameron-Moore)
