MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan, March 21 (Reuters) - A landslide triggered by heavy rain swept away three homes in northern Pakistan and 27 people were missing and feared dead, police said on Wednesday.

The landslide struck on Tuesday night in mountains hit by a huge earthquake 18 months ago, 65 km (40 miles) southeast of Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistani Kashmir.

"Villagers recovered just two injured but 27 people are still under the debris. There's little chance that any will come out alive," said senior police officer Zahoor Gillani.

Heavy rain and snow has fallen over the past few days across the mountains of northern Pakistan where a 7.6 magnitude earthquake killed 73,000 people in October 2005.

A landslide swept away a house in another village south of Muzaffarabad earlier on Tuesday, killing eight members of a family.
