- JAKARTA ADMINISTRATION FORGOT PROPER DRAINAGE

The Jakarta administration has acknowledged being late to adopt a drainage system to manage flooding caused by excessive development in the city's catchment areas. A Jakarta waterworks official said only 2.9 percent of the city's total area is utilised for the drainage system when the minimum should be eight percent.

The families of 30 passengers from the Adam Air jetliner that went missing off Sulawesi on Jan. 1 plan to sue U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing over the accident, a U.S.-based Indonesian lawyer said on Tuesday.

Jakarta as well as its satellite cities of Tangerang and Bekasi still face the threat of flooding as water in some inundated residential areas has not yet receded while rain may pour hard in two or three days, meteorologists say.
