FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, Oct 18

Oct 18 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1330 GMT on Thursday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* FALLUJA - Police killed three gunmen and arrested 10 others north of Falluja, 50 km (32 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

* HAWIJA - A parked car bomb wounded three soldiers and five people when it targeted an army patrol in central Hawija, 70 km (43 miles) southwest of Kirkuk, police said.

* BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army killed seven gunmen and arrested 41 others during last 24 hours in different parts of Iraq, the Ministry of Defence said.

BAGHDAD - Five bodies were found shot in different areas of Baghdad on Wednesday, police said.

MOSUL - Two policemen and a civilian were killed when a roadside bomb exploded near a police patrol in the northern city of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BASRA - Five high school students were wounded when an armed man threw a grenade at their school in the southern city of Basra, 550 km (340 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. and Iraqi forces on Tuesday detained a leader of a 300-member cell reponsible for roadside bombs attacks against the U.S. and Iraqi forces in Hurriya district of northwestern Baghdad, the U.S. military said. He was the main financier and weapons supplier in Shula district of Baghdad.
