Oct 9 (Reuters) - Following are security and other developments in Iraq reported on Monday as of 2030 GMT:

Asterisk denotes a new or updated item.

*BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier was killed when guerrillas attacked his patrol in eastern Baghdad on Monday, the U.S. military said. In another statement earlier, the military said three U.S. Marines were killed in action in Anbar province in western Iraq on Sunday.

FALLUJA - Gunmen killed a policeman in the Sunni stronghold city of Falluja, 50 km (35 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

NEAR KHALDIYA - Police found a body shot in the head near the town of Khaldiya, 83 km (50 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

MUSSAYAB - Two mortar rounds landed on a residential district, killing a man and wounding two others in Mussayab, 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

TREBIL - A suicide car bomber rammed a police checkpoint, wounding four policemen and two police commandos near the Jordanian border, police said.

TAL AFAR - A suicide car bomber killed a policeman and wounded 11 other people at a police checkpoint in the northern town of Tal Afar, about 420 km (260 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen killed Amer al-Hashemi, the brother of Iraq's Sunni Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi in northern Baghdad on Monday, police said.

BAQUBA - Gunmen shot dead police Colonel Faleh al-Obeidi in the religiously mixed city of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

NEAR BAQUBA - A roadside bomb struck a police patrol, killing two policemen and wounding three others in a village near Baquba, police said.

OTHER DEVELOPMENTS:

BAGHDAD - The trial of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and six co-accused resumed in Baghdad. The six are on trial over the 1988 Anfal Campaign against ethnic Kurds which prosecutors say killed more than 180,000 people.
