KINSHASA, Feb 1 (Reuters) - More than 35 people have been killed in clashes between security forces and opposition supporters in Democratic Republic of Congo's western Bas-Congo province, local government and hospital officials said on Thursday.

The violence started late on Wednesday when supporters of Jean-Pierre Bemba, who lost a presidential poll to President Joseph Kabila last year, staged protests against governors' elections which had been mostly won by pro-Kabila candidates.
