MOGADISHU, April 1 (Reuters) - Mortar rounds crashed into central Mogadishu on Sunday in a fourth day of battles between Islamist insurgents and allied Ethiopian and Somali government troops that has killed scores of civilians.

Residents living near the main soccer stadium said shells fired from the south of the capital started striking around 09:45 a.m. (0645 GMT), spreading panic as fighting resumed that aid workers have called the city's worst in more than 15 years.
